Feature: Busy Mom Creations

Notes from the Artist:
Why did I name my business Busy Mom Creations? I am just that, a very busy mom to 5 year old triplets and a 15 month old. When I am not immersed in my favorite job of being a mom, I love to create and shop for fun items for my creations. I can get lost in a craft store looking for fun items to use on my paper creations. I recently spent over an hour in an antique store digging through canisters of buttons! I love it when I can escape to my studio and pour my heart into creating. Even more fun is when someone loves my items enough to share them with those that they love!

Feature: Dote

Notes from the Artist:
I'm notorious for spotting an object or an image and immediately thinking of a story behind it or a new use from its original intention. I tend to be influenced by color and texture first and foremost. I have many different tastes, and I like to experiment with that in my cards. As a result, I never know if the next thing to come out of my studio will be humorous, modern, or elegant!

As a serious keeper-of-mementos, I try to make things that can be meaningful and worth keeping. I think card-making is an important art because it is the heartfelt, handwritten words we tend to archive in shoeboxes, and the image we choose to give someone with our words conjures such vivid memories -- contrary to a plain, printed page of email.

Notes from the Artist:
Art makes my soul breathe, and I love to share what I create through my cards. Nothing like giving or being given a little work of art.

Feature: ApplePanda

Notes from the Artist:
Applepanda is two friends, Andrea and Jessi who live insanely far apart but wanted to create something fun and awesome together. We mainly make cards with a removable gift. This card is one of our newest and one of our favorites, called "the blue bird of gratitude". Jessi handstitched the woolfelt bird magnet and Andrea created the card to match.

Notes from the Artist:
I started digital photography with a little Point&Shoot but at least it had a macro button. When I upgraded I lost my macro facility but I've just got a new macro lens so this card represents a return to my old love of macro flower photography. Look out for many more whilst I lurk in my neighbours gardens waiting for special flowers to bloom or for the light to be 'just right'!

Feature: Blue Dog Papers

Notes from the Artist:
Growing up, there was one person who inspired my creativity - my mother, Tina. She exposed me to Girl Scouts, community art classes and always had a craft project ready for every holiday or celebration.

I lost her just this week to cancer, and not only do I mourn her loss, but I mourn the many years of creating and exploring we would have had together, and with my two girls.

She was proud that I left my corporate career to be home with my children and to explore and embrace what I love to do, which is craft and create. I hope this card shows how much she meant to me and to my love of all things creative. Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society in her honor.

Feature: Laura Crow

Notes from the Artist:
My first love is photography, but paper runs a close second. I collect greeting cards like some people collect stamps. To me, it's like collecting little mailable pieces of art. I enjoy the process of making a card and seeing where my creativity takes me. I like clean lines and I think less really is more. The more simple something is, the more beautiful it is to me.

Feature: Less Than Three Designs

Notes from the Artist:
I love paper goods! The cards you see above started as a webcomic drawn by my cousin after getting her wisdom teeth removed. The cartoon can be seen here: lessthanthreedesigns. The characters quickly became a staple in my collection of paper goods as well as the logo to my shop. As my shop continues to grow, so will my teeth! Enjoy!

Feature: JunkYardDoll

Notes from the Artist:
For me, the joy in cards is re-introducing a worthy image to the
world. I delight in tying together disparate items to draw a subtle
visual comparison or shock by glittering up a biology text
illustration of the female reproductive organs. I search vintage
books of all types and stripes to find a sweet or provocative or
strange or touching image to be my muse. Many of these pictures have
been waiting patiently between the covers of a book for 50, 60, even
75 years and, having matured gracefully, they are now MY version of
fine wine.

Notes from the Artist:
ok i really love this card(set). i think it totally is me to a 'T'.
simple, but with personality. i love the torn paper to add
some texture, as well as the flocked little monkey. the simple
sentiment is perfection--everything starts with hello!
i totally love the orange thread--adds a touch of funkyness
with the color combination. which by the way, also describes
most of my work. i make cards to make ME happy. and if
someone comes along and digs what i've made--well thats
just icing. =)

Feature: Moxie Photo Design

Notes from the Artist:
I simply love to create things. a great composition through my lens, a greeting card with a print, fabric and old pattern images, a magnet from a great album cover...I am most in love with the days I get to create for hours on end, moving from idea to idea, working on multiple pieces at once until slowly, every so slowly, they become what makes my heart sing!

I love working on my art and am lucky enough to have a great husband who is supportive of my new full time career as a starving artist! I realized one day as I ran some errands that I could not wait to get back to 'the office'! What a great moment to catch myself in.

Stop by the office sometime: moxiephotodesign.etsy.com or moxiephotoanddesign.com

Feature: Paper Krazy

Notes from the Artist:
This card was inspired by my mother's living room, of all things. It uses some of my favorite colors and materials. I love ribbon and metal and try to use them as much as possible. I get ideas for my work in the strangest places. I just never know what will inspire me on a particular day. The good thing about that is that I have more ideas than I can use in a lifetime. I scrap or make cards EVERYDAY. This is my neverending hobby!

Feature: PigseyArt

Notes from the Artist:
I think humour is the best thing in the world. Humour keeps 80s movies DVDs selling, makes an ugly man a keeper and makes everyday foibles just a little more tolerable. I hope to make people laugh with many of my cards and very few things are funnier than a Buddha with googly eyes in this Pirate Pig's opinion.

Notes from the Artist:
i have been making cards since i was very little and this range of cards was one of the first that i perfected to sell properly- in my mum's card shop when i was about 14. they have been a bestseller ever since and i just keep on making them. they are such a simple idea yet work so well for any occasion! my mum says i need to do a Welsh version of the alphabet (with no x or z) and double FF and DD! that's not happening just yet i think. all my cards are made with great attention to detail- but my problem is i just can't stop! the ideas just keep coming!

Notes from the Artist:
A jizo* is thinking positive thoughts, leaving a trail of blooming happiness...
*In Japan, a jizo is most well-known as a guardian of children, and a protector of women and travellers; they may comfort anyone dealing with sadness or the loss of someone dear. My husband gave me a little jizo statue when I was having a tough time with the passing of my mom last year. That statue and the feeling of a load being lightened is the inspiration for this card.

I carve all my stamps and have a particular fondness for the colours, textures and inherent warmth of Japanese papers. Thanks for looking!

Notes from the Artist:
When it comes to my cards, I like to think of them as a mini-art print too! I did such an extensive search for a great card (+ envelope) to produce them on and I finally love the results! All of the details and colors look great! I've also had customers buy my cards just to frame them. All of the images are reproduced from my original acrylic paintings and usually center around the Mexican holiday, Dia De Los Muertos, the artist Frida Kahlo, amongst other images that I offer. I've had some nice success with producing my own cards and hope to have much more. I wish the same for everyone at Etsy Greetings - I've seen some great cards!!

Notes from the Artist:
I really enjoy working with different kinds of materials. From unusual papers, fibers, cloth, accents, ink and dye, new or reclaimed, everything becomes an medium in which to create. The Blossom and Koi series shows off two of my newest obsessions...sewing and going mini. Fun, different and interesting are the keys to all of my art. Enjoy!

Feature: Callahan Candles

Notes from the Artist:
I have always loved paper! Years ago before all the scrapbooking rage, I used to go to discount stores and buy those legal pads in packs of 12 and any note pads I could get in the packs! Now I have soo much scrapbook paper! When I go to make a card, it can't just be any ole paper...it kinda "speaks" to me first. The funny thing is once the card is made...I just can't part with it!:) I have about 200-ish cards in boxes and I only pull them out when my friends need one! Crazy I know....well, I hope that you enjoy the few cards that I have been able to part with in my etsy store!:)

Feature: Colespic

Notes from the Artist:
The concept for this card was originally conceived a good ten years ago when I heard a story about Princess Diana having silly caricatures made of people she was annoyed with. Each time she passed she would laugh and feel better. True or not--I banked this idea as a good one. In a time of anger or disappointment it does help to put something up in your environment to change angry feelings into laughter. As the technological craze thrusts society into a more withdrawn one, I find people desiring all the more to be involved with their card giving-- interacting if you will-- to make a very personal and tangible connection with a loved one. Thus I started colespic–the clever card. colespic cards are clever, unique, current, artistic, interactive, and, are ever changing-- so bookmark my site and check it often!

Notes from the Artist:
I love experimenting with acrylics! Thoughts of nature seem to help me create paintings, aceos, and cards.

I have always enjoyed gardening, and painting, so it is a blast to mix my two passions!

Feature: Ophelia's Treasures

Notes from the Artist:
I like to make pretty elegant cards with a fun edge to them. I like texture and color and try to incorporate both into my cards. With many of my cards I like to add ribbons and use rubberstamps. Many of the stamped images have been embossed and colored.

With this card I distressed printed cardstcok and layered it with rose vellum. I then added a dimensional sticker of a bride and groom to the front. I also added metal attachments for further texture and elegance.

Notes from the Artist:
I LOVE paper and I'm always looking for new and exciting designs to use in my creations. I generally like clean, crisp lines which is why the majority of my cards have a white base. However, I also love to embellish with things like ribbon and crystals as in the card above. You can view more cards and scrapbooking products by visiting my Etsy store - www.scrap4u.etsy.com

Notes from the Artist:
I've fallen in love with the charming colors in this card. I love combining brilliantly vibrant scenes from my favorite magazines. I try and design them in such a way that you look at the colors and shapes in a different way. Beyond my cards, I create journals and books!

Notes from the Artist:
I adore the manipulation of different mediums - experimenting with a variety of textures, colors, and patterns - and card making allows me to really explore that type of art. I make all of my cards meticulously by hand, and each design choice is very deliberate... something that looks simple might have been far more difficult for me to design than something with more detail. In the end, I want to provide an item that I would enjoy and use myself - and I often do use them before I have a chance to sell them!

Notes from the Artist:
While I've always enjoyed the physical aspects of working with paper and other materials, as a graphic designer I also take pride in being able to creatively translate my ideas into digital form. The birth of my two nieces within the past year has helped foster this, as I soon had many opportunities to put my design skills to good use through the creation of birth announcements and other invitations.
