Playin With Paper

Notes from the Artist:
Tis the season after the hub-bub of holidays are over to say thank you to all those special people. Warming up with a cup of tea or hot cider writing thank you's is my usual plan for January once the rush is over. Why not do both and include a special tea, hot cider or small cocoa packet when you send your thank you!

Distinctive Moments

Notes from the Artist:
This is a blue and green holiday card. I chose to stray from the traditional reds and greens with this card. I inked the edges and stamped the inside greeting with a brown chalk ink. You’ll find that a lot of my cards are accented with brown chalk ink. I really like the added dimension the ink gives a card.
Be sure to visit my Etsy shop to view my other cards. I also offer Altered Items (lunch boxes, frames, journals, clipboards, etc). Many of my altered items are on sale this month.

Go Buggy

Notes from the Artist:
I like to sew and repeat patterns. I incorporate Washi (japanese paper) as an accent but I don't want it to be the majority of the card. I am Japanese but I also lived in America for over a decade so I was hoping that the cards would show both Japanese and American influence. I try to make the cards simple- which is my hardest challenge since I want to put so much in one surface.

time2cre8 (MaryLou's Art [Ad]Venture)

Notes from the Artist:
I'm a huge fan of vintage illustrations. The intricacy of the artwork, almost always something that was created in pen/pencil and ink, is astounding. I created a line of cards using these images, combined with my own slightly sarcastic comments, and called them Understated Greetings. This card, featuring a vintage illustration of a typewriter, is a reminder that we don't write often enough!
In addition to the Understated Greetings, I use vintage illustrations of animals to create Captioned Critters greeting cards and mini cards. Each Captioned Critter is saying or thinking something, but it's up to the sender of the card to figure out just what his or her critter has on its mind. Have a favorite critter? I have such fun creating these, and some of my best critters have been suggested by customers.

Notes from the Artist:
I have a love affair with chocolate and sky. This color combination is so modern and retro at the same time, and always remind me of happy winters. This holiday card design turned out to be my favorite. I had so much fun making these. To me, the randomly placed crystals give off the feel of blinking holiday lights that always make me smile during this time of year. I hope it makes people smile when they receive this.

Notes from the Artist:
My cards are all so different. Some are whimsical and some are elegant and simple. You never know what I will create. It all depends on the mood I am in. This reindeer card is more whimsical. I just love the reindeer faces. They make me smile. Isn't smiling what it is all about? Happy Holidays everyone!

Teeny Tiny Card Company

Notes from the Artist:
This is one of my "gift card cards" or "shirt cards". I came up with the idea for these cards when I was trying to think of a masculine card for Father's Day. I used my sewing machine to stitch on different styles of paper that look like fabric: denim, flannel, stripes, Hawaiian shirts. I sewed buttons on, and made a pocket the perfect size for a gift card. I have even come up with a couple feminine shirts! Come by my shop to check them out. There will be more coming soon.

Over the past year, I’ve truly enjoyed designing simple, yet fun cards for my Etsy customers, family, and friends. I look forward to creating more cards, tags (and perhaps, mini-scrapbooks) in 2008!

Notes from the Artist:
Winter is a wonderful time of year. I love playing in the snow, and I love how it sparkles! The little tiny snowmen in this card sparkle too. The photo is an extreme closeup.
In my shop you'll find an array of tiny sparkly cards. The beauty is in the details, and each card takes my full attention when it's made. Cardmaking lets me express my creative side, and allows me to share my ideas and feelings with others. Enjoy!

Notes from the Artist:
Shabby-chic styles make for a completely unique card: a bit of ornate scrollwork paper topped with coordinating polka dots, a knot of organdy and a greeting! The papers are hand-'distressed' for a one-of-a-kind set of cards. Cards are blank for your greetings, but I have several holiday sentiments available that I'd be happy to add inside - please just visit the Etsy listing for details!

Quirky 'n' Berkeley

Notes from the Artist:
Everyone's displaying their holiday cards just about now, but I love
this card and wanted you to have a chance to see it up close. It's
one of my favorite designs, and I love to make custom orders for it.
It makes a great, cheerful gift set. Just send me a note and I'll be
happy to make some up just for you. I also make this card design with
a tulip and an iris. Remember, even though it's cold today, Spring is
really just around the corner.
And here's a little about me:
I love working with paper and ink and scissors. All of my cards are
made individually. It gives me a great sense of delight to know that
my cards have been bought and sent out to people all over the world.
It gives me a feeling of connectedness that really makes my day.

Notes from the Artist:
Icy lavender, blue, and silver starlight stream out of the winter sky to illuminate a peaceful, snow-covered cottage on these Silent Night notecards.
Designing notecards and screenprinting them by hand is a wonderful creative outlet for me. I enjoy remixing vintage imagry into something new and exciting. For this holiday card, I combined the vintage image of a cottage with my own starry sky and typography.
