Friday Feature: Linda's Paperie

1. Tell us about you and your shop.
I'm Linda, a New York girl living in Maryland. I am a married stay at home mom of three children. We have 2 dogs and a cat. I originally started on Etsy in 2007 as HandmadeByLinda but then changed my shop name to LindasPaperie in 2008. I sell handmade greeting cards and paper crafting embellishments. When I am not creating cards for LindasPaperie, I teach paper crafting classes at My Creative Classroom.

2. How did you get started in your craft?
I started scrapbooking in 1999 to do something with all of the pictures I was taking of my children. Card making followed a few years later as another way to use up my ever growing collection of scraps.

3. What tool can you not live without?
My Slice die cutting machine, I am in love with all the fonts and cute shapes.

4. What inspires you?
Magazines and challenge blogs, the color ones are my favorite.

5. Name one favorite item from your store

My current favorite item is this card set. With all of the snow we have seen this winter, the bright colors make me happy.

Friday Feature: HollieByGollie

1. Tell us about you and your shop.
My name is Holly and my shop’s name is HollyByGollie.
I live in the high desert of northern Arizona in a little log house with my amazing husband who is also my biggest fan and our dogs Dash and Daisy. The name HollyByGollie was a childhood nickname and I’ve always wanted to use it for a business.

2. How did you get started in your craft?
I’ve been a doodler, drawer, gluer, pencil-marker-paint nut all my life, thanks to my very artistic and talented mother who encourage all avenues of creativity. I started making cards about 7 years ago as a creative outlet that transported me away from life’s demands and allowed me to use the other side of my brain.

3. What tool can you not live without?
That would be my fine tip black pen.

4. What inspires you?
Catalogs, nature, kids, dreams.

5. Name one favorite item from your store.

I love my tropical fish card because it’s fun and great for many occasions.

Friday Feature: Elves in the Attic

1. Tell us about you and your shop.
My name is Julie and I live in Edmonds, WA – a smidge north of Seattle. I am a stay-at-home-parent to three smart, witty and all-around cool kids and have a fantastic husband who is always able to make me laugh. If I’m not home playing with paper and glue, I’m probably at an ice rink or soccer field, doing yard work or baking up something tasty.

I opened ElvesInTheAttic.etsy.com in June 2009 after much prodding by family and friends. I work out of a little room in our home that serves as both my “studio” and our home office. It is usually in a state of chaos, but I’ve decided that chaos breeds creativity.

2. How did you get started in your craft?
I have always enjoyed arts & crafts sorts of things. The “legit” scrapbooking started 11 years ago. A friend showed me a scrapbook she had made and told me that there was a scrapbooking store nearby. I had never heard of a whole store devoted to this stuff and was hooked the moment I walked in the door and saw all of the wonderful paper and supplies.

The card-making started when I needed to find ways to justify all of my scrapbooking purchases. Of course I now have a decent collection of rubber stamps that don’t have anything to do with scrapbooking. One of the things I love about making cards is the gratification of a completed project in a timely manner.

3. What tool can you not live without?
Paper trimmer. If I had to give that up I’d have to kabosh the whole thing. Can’t cut a straight line for the life of me.

4. What inspires you?
I find inspiration in my fellow crafters, magazines, catalogs, billboards/ads, and the textures in nature.

5. Name one favorite item from your store.

I love the embossed background on this card and keep meaning to make more.

Friday Feature: FreshnFunky Cards

1. Tell us about you and your shop.
I am a Mum to 3 huggable boys and a wife to one patient hard working man.

My wee shop on Etsy has grown out of a passion for papercrafting. I have found my creative side late in life (always failed in Art at school!!) and have discovered that I LOVE to colour and bring an image to life, then pick some gorgeous patterned papers and finally embellish the card to perfection and send someone a piece of art from my heart!! (Maybe that should be my tagline??)

My little hobby has grown from giving cards to friends to starting up my Etsy shop last year, teaching classes in my local area, designing for my favourite stamp company, Sugar Nellie and writing articles for a UK stamping magazine called Craft Stamper.

I am truly blessed and honoured to do what I love!!

2. How did you get started in your craft?
I began crafting as a creative outlet after a busy day. It grew from a few things in a box, to some stackable drawers and now to a whole room of stash!!

3. What tool can you not live without?
I can't live without my copic markers and my prismacolor pencils!!

4. What inspires you?
Colour inspires me. I look for colour combinations in home decor, in the natural world and also in the wonderful array of deisgner papers there are on the market.

5. Name one favorite item from your store.

This my favourite card as I love the warmth of the image and I adore the colours together on this card.
