Card Goddess

Notes from the Artist:
I love to create my cards out of recycled items so that items that may normally end up in the trash end up as a beautiful paper creation. These silk orchid flowers came on a favor box that I received at a baby shower. With some pretty ribbons and printed paper, it has been transformed into a bright and cheery card that is sure to brighten someone's day.

Wedding Challenge - Vote Here!

The Jewelry on Etsy Team (JET), EtsyFAST, and EtsyGreetings teams have come together for a creative Wedding Challenge. Members were challenged to design a “jewelry”, “fiber”, or “paper” item inspired by our featured bride’s wedding details. The bride and groom were chosen from another online community, Our Little Universe. The challenge was to create a piece that would be a perfect fit for the happy couple’s wedding, reception or honeymoon. Information about the bride and groom and their wedding details is available here.

Here at EtsyGreetings, we are proud to host the JEWELRY entries created by the talented members of JET. From April 29 until midnight EST May 6th we invite you to vote for your favorite creation from each team’s contest entries using the button voting on the right margin of the blog. Final voting results will be announced on all three team blogs on Friday May 9th.

To vote for your favorite entry in the JEWELRY and PAPER categories, click on one of the links below. Please just one vote per category per person!

Orange Theory

Notes from the Artist:
This card set is one of my favorites. I am a bright color gal, and this set really represents my style. I love paper! I cannot leave a craft store without buying more, even though I have way too much already. My favorite work on Etsy so far, has been custom orders. Working with a customer to make their vision a reality is very rewarding.

CardsByEmily

Notes from Artist:
My name is Emily, and I am new to Etsy. I spend most of my free time making greeting cards and matching envelopes. I make each one as if it is for someone very special! This large card can be used on any occasion, but I make specific occasion cards as well. Custom cards are a new feature in my shop. Come visit CardsByEmily if you'd like!

Slim Arts

Notes from the Artist:
This daisy was one of my first designs, and I still love to say 'hello' with it, even as I tweak and change the look of it (add petals, curve the stem in a different direction, handwrite instead of stamp 'hello') I'm a scissors girl...I don't use die-cut pieces and I use very few punches (who can cut a perfect circle by hand?). I really have fun making cards and I love the spontaneous creations and modifications that appear when I've got scissors and paper in my hands.

Andrea's Paper Boutique

Notes from the Artist:
I love creating cards with a vintage feel. All of my cards are created in a collage style with vintage images, printed paper and rubber stamping.

Helium Studio and Post

Notes from the Artist:
I'm Kim White-Jenkins from Westland, Michigan, USA. I am an "in my spare time" artist (oh, I wish I could create *all day* like some of my Etsy Greetings counterparts), at least until this semester is over and my master's degree is in the can. I'm a beginning Gocco printer (yay Gocco!), and I enjoy mixing found papers with printing and transparencies. You might say my designs are in the "kitchen sink" style, as in, "incorporates anything but the kitchen sink" (at least so far). I also create journals and jewelry, as well as collage art.

Christina Williams Designs

Notes from the Artist:
I grew up playing at my parents' office and art supply store, and was allowed to explore my creativity there. As a child, I made "purses" out of paper, ribbon and staples and tried to sell them to the employees there. As long as I can remember, I've been making things from paper and trying to sell them to people...so opening up my Etsy shop was only natural. I love trying new techniques and I love coming up with simple, classic designs that anybody would love to give or receive. Etsy has been such a great experience for me; I learn something new every day and I'm so excited to see what I can come up with in the future. I love taking on special projects and custom orders, so don't hesitate to contact me with questions!

Anemone Letterpress

Notes from the Artist:
Why give an ordinary thank you card, when you can say thank you *and* quote Styx?

This folded A2 (4.25 x 5.5") card is letterpress printed with silver and hand-mixed green apple inks on 100% cotton Somerset Velvet paper. Comes with a green apple envelope. The set is packaged in a clear cello.

Carlin Card Creations

Notes from the Artist:
I just love flowers. Any kind of flower…real, paper, silk or stamped. And I love spring colors...so fresh and new! I guess that’s how this card came to be. The fact that I have a spring birthday gave meaning to the sentiment. Enjoy!

JillHannah

Notes from the Artist:
I tend towards snarky, googly eyes, and cute-but-not-cutesy. Custom requests are my favorites, particularly ones that force me to make up new tag lines and krazy glue myself to random embellishment. If you want beautiful cards, there are many fine examples elsewhere on EtsyGreetings. If you want something a little sillier to wickedly sarcastic, I'm your gal.

Orange Cat Art

Notes from the Artist:
This "Mother Goose" sat on her nest (in an office complex parking lot!) for weeks before hatching a bunch of adorable, fuzzy goslings. She allowed me just a peek at them in the days before they moved on to a nearby pond. This card is terrific for Mother's Day or to accompany baby gifts, and can be customized for baby shower invitations.

2008 Wedding Challenge

"The Proposal" as told by our bride, Autumn

Anticipation
"Well I knew the ring was ready this week and I wasn't sure what John's plans were or how he would give it to me. He took Friday off work, he he- so I suspected something. Of course all week I would ask "isn't there a certain item you are supposed to pick up.... aren't you expecting something?" I have no patience as most would know."

Sweeney Todd
So I mentioned Friday afternoon that I wanted to see the play version of Sweeny Todd - and heard it was running here at a local theatre. John was able to get, seriously, the best seats in the house...third row center."

John Gets Serious
"He totally cleaned the house, vacuumed the couch and rugs and floors - laundry and all. He also said he was making dinner (not too out of the ordinary - but very nice). Once I got home, I then asked "what's in this drawer?" - which is HIS drawer for random stuff in our desk...he said "oh nothing- you can't go in that drawer" - BLAH!"

Where You Least Expect It
A bit later while I was on the phone, in the kitchen, he must of done something...when I came back he told me that the "item I was looking for" was hidden somewhere down stairs.... oh jeez!! So I look and look ...then I just give up and sit and watch TV for a while...kind of look some more...he told me it was in the "play room" where most of Gabe's toys and our computer/desk are.... I looked some more and told him "fine I don't want it anyway..." then I sit down at the computer because I was going to check email.... and I see this..."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The challenge is to create a piece that would be a perfect fit for Autumn and John's wedding event.

This challenge is sponsored by three great Etsy teams. Visit all 3 for more of Autumn and John's story:

K is for Calligraphy

Notes from the Artist:
By the sea, by the sea, "EYE" the beautiful sea...
This is a one-of-a-kind flat note card set inspired by the beautiful sea! The images were originally made into stickers and hand cut from Dennis C. Benson's vintage book "Recycle Catalogue"; (published by Abingdon Press in 1975). Each image is embellished with a plastic goggle eye which makes each card come to life. The four cards are made from one strip of black 90 lb Stonehenge paper perforated for your pleasure! LOL. Easy to fold and tear at perforation and fun to do too! A hand bordered high quality waterproof and smudgeproof blank label is adhered to the other side of each card for your hand written note. And wait there is more! Four hand lined envelopes each with a sea shell sticker embellishment and 4 hand cut matching envelope seals are also included! Happy letter writing!xo, Katy
